ENTERTAINMENTS.

EVERYBODY'S. ALEXANDRA CARLISLE IN "TIDES OP FATE." "Creeping, Tides," the famous novel by Kate Jordan, has been picturised, and under the title of "Tides of. Fata" was screened at Everybody's to a crowded house on Saturday . It is a superb production with a boldly original plot, and, like most well-known books which are "best sellers," the story is full of action. Alexandra Carlisle, the America stage beauty, is featured, and is very impressive as the heroine who encounters such a long string of misfortunes. She marries a handsome rascal iiy spite of her relations' opposition, and almost at the dawn of their married life finds herself in prison as his accomplice in the crime of counterfeiting. She escapes from prison, and reads that her husband has been killed in a mine accident. An old lover comes back into her life at this moment, only to be faced with the blackmailing tactics of her scoundrelly husband. The drama contains some particularly fine scenes of the last war in which America was engaged, the Philippine scenery being most interesting. I'raiV; Holland, a new World man star, is particularly fine in the role of John Cross, the Border Police officer, who is dismissed for losing his nerve at a critical time, and redeems himself by a fine Exhibition of daring and endurance. The supports include the 4th episode of "The j Girl and the Game.''

"The Cure," a genuine riot of laughter in which the little comedian scores the biggest success of his remarkable career. Charlie goes to a sanatorium to regain his shattered nerves, shattered through looking too closely into t'ho ways of prohibition. Like many another good prohibitionist he carries a bottle in his trpik, and Charlie's trunk becomes a very popular institution in the sanatoriiun- As a laugh producer this latest Chaplin comedy is the limit. The triangle producers are represented on the programme with a fine feature drama, "The Bond of Fear," in which Belle Bennett, a new Triangle star, makes her first appearance.

CHAPLIN MATMES TO-MORROW. To enable all the kiddies to see "Charlie," th« Empire management has arranged to rim a special matinee tomorrow. commencing at 3.13. In addition to "The Cure" the matinee programme will include several other good comedy pictures-
