By Wire. —I'arliameutary Reporter.
Wellington, Last Night. "Will the Government give the Second Division League an opportunity during this session to renew their representations regarding increased pay and allowances?" asked Mr. Anstey (Waitaki) in the House of Representatives to-day. "If not, what other opportunity will tha Government afford to the League to present its case?"
The Prime Minister replied that there would be no legislation regarding soldiers' pay or allowances during the present session. "So far as allowances are concerned," lie added, "the Government can alter the amount of the allowances at any time they think proper by regu. lation. I am not going to ipledge th« Government to increase the separation allowance, but the subject of these separation allowances is under the considera- i tion of the Government at the present time. That is all I can say just now." The Minister for Defence said he had read the. statement just issued by the geeond Division League. The League had raised some points in connection with home service men, He. admitted that there were anomalies there, and steps were being taken to adjust tbem. Generally speaking, the different grievances urged by the League were receiving attention.
