A NEW MAGISTRATE.
AIR. .1. I'. WILSON. Ob' NICW PLY* MOUTH. Our Parliamentary reporter wires that Mr. •! K. Wilson, barrister and solicitor, of Now Plymouth, has been appointed relieving magistrate. The appointment will give general satisfaction in Now Plymouth, where Mr. Wilson has practised his profession for many years, and has been associated with the town's various activities. He possesses all the qualifications that make for a successful magistrate, and the bench undoubtedly will be benefited by his accession. Mr. Wilson is the fourth son of. Captain Wilson, one of our oldest and most respected settlers, and who celebrated his 81st birthday only this week. He was born in Canterbury in 1873, and came to Taranaki with his people in 18SG. He attended the school in Ureuui, and, gaining an Education Board scholarship, attended the New Plymouth High School, which he passed through with credit and distinction. Leaving school, he joined Mr. Roy's legal office, leaving there subsequently to practice on. his own account, and later being joined by Mr. Geo. Gray In 1914 he was elected Mayor of New Plymouth, and again the following year, when he was compelled to retire ou account of a serious illness. For some years he was on the High School Board, aud was largely responsible for the reorganisation of the school that haa resulted in the school being what it is to-day, one of the most successful of tfc^ 1 secondary schools of the Dominion.
