BOWLING.
BANNER MATCH. Fitzroy yesterday made an attempt to deprive New Plymouth of the Taranaki banner. Weather conditions were by no means favorable for bowling, and owing to heavy rain falling before the (dose of the game plav ceased, but as New Plymouth were well ahead, it was decided that the game should lie treated as a win for them, so that the banner still remains in their hands, a result that was anticipated when the personnel iif the competing teams was made known. When play ceased, the scores were: New Plymouth 78; Fitzroy 04. Following are the rink tolnis, New Plymouth being mentioned first in each case:
