GERMAN-AMERICAN ALLIANCE. MACHINATIONS EXPOSED. Reuter Service. Received April 11, 8.40 p.m. Washington, April 10. Professor Sperry gave evidence to the State Committee that William Hearst's suggestion to establish a German-Ameri-can alliance met with the full approval of the German Government. Its members, in many instances, operating as individuals, were active in the interests of Germany. Funds for the proposed American embargo were obtained almost exclusively from German-American sources. ' IRISH CONSCRIPTION. VISITING M.P.'S VIEWS. Washington, April 10. Mr. R. Hazelton, an Irish member of the House of Commons, interviewed in New York, said the enforcement of conscription in Ireland would spell tragedy and disaster. Mr. T. P. O'Connor declared that conscription would paralyse friends and encourage the bitterest enemies. Such an insane blander would render futile the best efforts of the Irish 1 sad erg everywhere.
