THE PRICE OF FOOTWEAR.
MANUFACTURERS REAPING A HARVEST,
ACTION OF CHRISTCHURCEf RETAILERS.
By Telegraph.—Preßs Association. Christeliurcli, Last Night. The steady increase in the price of footwear in Christchureh is causing some comment, and a meeting of the Clivistelim'cli Boot Retailers Association has been called for next week for the purpose of attempting to induce the local toot manufacturers to reduce their charges. The retailers say that the New Zealand boot manufacturers are taking advantage of the practical elimination of outside competition and have raised their prices to an anfair extent. If the retailers cannot secure any concessions, as the result o! next week's meeting, they propose to approach the Government in the matter.
