HIGH COMMISSIONER'S MARKET REPORT. The Department of Agriculture, Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram, dated London, April C, from th£ High Commissioner for Xew Zealand. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot): Meat.—Supplies consist chiefly of imported, selling at maximum prices- Pork, English and imported, maximum fixed prices have been raised to Is 4d. Imported beef, hinds, fores, prices have been fixed, 13|d to l'Ojfd per lb. respectively. Butter. —Market remains unchanged. Cheese. Prices remain unchanged, with the exception of English cheddar Wholesale maximum fixed price has been raised to 168s for April and May, 144s 8d after May. Government intends to control in the near future distribution of English cheese. Hemp.—Manila hemp continues in demand. It is understood that maximum fixed prices have been arranged with the United States of America and New Zealand. Demand for spot is good, also en route. Wheat—Offerings are small, demand is good; no change in prices. Oats: Market quiet, but firm
