GOLF.
a HAWER4 CLUB.
| At the f mnual meeting of the Hawera Golf Club on Tuesday evening about twelve members were present. The committee's annual report mentioned that, although there was an apparent book loss of £2B 18s Id upon the year's working, all things considered, the result must be looked upon as fairly satisfactory. The report reviewed various causes which had militated against success during the past year, and suggested a scheme for an alteration and improvement of the present nine-hole course, which, it was hoped, would remove existing disabilities and result in an increased membership and the resumption of play by the ladies' club, the members of which used the links but little last season. Officers were elected as follows: Patron, Mr. A. W. Gillies; president, Mr. A. S. Tonks; captain, Mr. W. O'C'allaglian; secretary, Mr. \y. \\\ Awdry; general committee, Messrs. C. 11. Walker G. H. Ryan, Sutton, Salmon, Christie and Cox; green committee, Messrs. Sutton Pratt and Cox; auditor, Mr. R. 1?, p a <r e ' match committee, Messrs Ryan, Sutton and captain. The course suggested as per plan submitted was approved, and it was decided to resume club competitions and arrange as many outside matches as possible The subscription was left as at last year, namely, £.l, beginners and players under 21 years of age £l, and honorary members 10s 6d.
