A well-known medical practitioner oi AucUaaid Br. James Boyd, F.K.US. (Mm ), died on KMday last, aged lil'tybye jews. On the outbreak of hostilities in Europe he offered his services to the War Office as a nervo specialist, and was appointed to the Herbert Military Hospital, Woolwich, where his value in that branch of medicine was readily recognised Dr. Boyd was promoted captain in the R.A.M.C-, also consulting neurologist to the Springfield 'Military Hospital, Tooting- This position iic had to resign on account of ill-health. Returning to New Zealand, Or. lioyd received an appointment to the Medical Board, Otago" district, 'but, 'being unable to stand the strain of the work, resigned, and resumed private practice in Auckland.
