The Lord Mayor gave a luncheon to a distinguished company at the Mansion House to commemorate the anniversary of the entry of the United States into the war. Telegrams were read from the King and Mr. Lloyd George. The latter, in the course of his telegram, said that during the next few weeks America would give the Prussian military junta the surprise of their Uvea. REDUCED MEAT RATION. London, April 7. The Ministry of Food states that the reduction of the meat ration will remedy the present shortage by autumn and , make adequate supplies available during i the .winter. It will also permit a great accumulation of artificial feeding stuffs. CZERNIN'S HYPOCRITICAL CLAIMS. London, April 7. Lord Robert Cecil, replying to Count Czernin's speech said: "Count Czernin reflects the Prussian ideals and policy. Ho claims with great audacity that the peace ideals of the Central Powers are based on self-determination, no annexations or indemnities. All these claims are hypocritical. In the annexed territories the only people considered are the German barons. No attempt has been made to consider the people, who are treated as mere counters without reference to .racial conditions. Instead of indemnities Roumania has been forced to give an . oil monopoly, while all the food has been*seized in the Ukraine-
