CURTAILMENT POSSIBLE., By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Hon. W. H. Herries told a reporter tonight that he could promise nothing regarding the resumption of the through daily express between Jnvereargill am! Christchurch. In the first place ho must know whether the people at the majority of stations between Christchurch and lnvercargill desired sucli a change, and secondly (and of much more importance) was the question of man power and coal. He could not say just now what the latest regulations' with regard to man power might be, nor could be foretell the developments in thq coa,l situationHowever, aprt from the giving of the improved service asked for, it was quite ,on the cards that two circumstances Would lead to still further curtailments of the various train services at an early date.
