RAID ON CHINESE CUMING HOUSE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The police raided a Chinese restaurant last night and arrested fifteen Chinamen. One, Ah Yuon, on a charge, of keeping a common gaining house, and Ah Lee was charged with assisting, the others being charged with Being found on the premises. STATE FIRE OFFICE REPORT. Wellington, April 0. The annual report of the State Fire Office states that the profits for the past year are greater than in any-pre-vious year of its hfttory. A sum of £2,000,000 has been added to the. sum assured, bringing the total to nearly £22,000,000. The net surplus for the year Is £22.001, and the net income' £91.380, an increase of £BOBO over the previous year. The net losses were £27,302, For the purpose of assisting the war finances the olliee paid over to the Government in loans and taxation £88,023.
