TOWED OFF AT HIGH WATEftBy Telegraph.—Press Association Wellington. Last Night. A well known steamer visiting thes<) waters in connection with a special mission had an exciting experience, on Safc urday evening during a furious nor*west gale. The vessel anchored in Worser Bay, inside the heads, waiting for the weather to moderate, and between 7 and S p.m. the anchor commenced to drag. Before it could he raised to get the vessel under weigh, she drifted broadside on to the beach at Seatoun half way between the wharf and the (pinnacles, and rested on a sand and shingle bottom. The Union Co.'t tug Terawhiti was sent out, also the .Tanie Seddon and the tug Natone, and these succeeded, after considerable difficulty, in getting the steamer afloat at high water to-day. The vessel steamed ~tc port, apparently, none the worse foi her experience.
