THE EMPIRE. MATINEE TO-DAY AT 2 P.M. HAROLD LOCKWOOD IN "PARADISE GARDEN" The fine Metro super-film "Paradise , Garden" will be screened at the matineethis afternoon and again for the last time to-night. Harold Lockwood is the star in this' delightfully fresh and wholesome story, and it ranks as his finest picture to date. The supports include the fifth episode of the popular Universal serial "Peg 0' the IJing."

COMING MONDAY. BESSIE LOVE IN "THE SAWDUST RING." • The charming little Triangle star, Bessie Love, will commence a three night season next Monday in a five reel drama of circus life, entitled "The Sawdust Ring." There is a line human theme running through'this picture and there are many peeps at the strange lives of those who follow the career of the ring. This programme will also include the final episode of "The Secret Kingdom."

EVERYBODY'S. GAIL KANE IN THE MUTUAL MASTERPIECE "WHOSE WIFE"? Gail Kane, who left the World Film Company to join Mutual, has been provided with a powerful drama, for her first starring vehicle. "Whose Wife"? which is screening at Everybody's this afternoon and again to-night, is a story of extraordinary strength, and has a plot that -is boldly original. The heroine, deserted by the elderly rogue whom she had been persuaded to marry, and hearing that he is drowned, marries again- The husband returns and manages to inveigle her away to his rooms. Here he Is attacked by the husband of one of his former victims, and kills him. He is tracked, arrested for murder, and then his ftnfortunate wife is put in a most dire predicament. If she'appears to help his plea of self-defence, her chances of happiness are ruined, and also there faces her the terrible temptation to 'allow him to go to his doom. The acting throughout the play is of a high standard, and the ship-board and Argentine scenes are remarkable photography. Gail Kane has a role which suijs her admirably, and in the tense situations which are many, she is most impressive, and looks wonderously handsome. The climax is entirely unexpected, and springs a dramatic surprise with grim swiftness. In support of the" star picture Helen Holmes will appear in the third episode of the thrilling railroad serial "The Girl and the Game."
