MOTOR CYCLE RACES.
IN SOUTH TARANAKI. On Tuesday evening another very largely attended meeting of members of the Soutli Taranaki Automobile Association and others interested in the above movement was held at Hawera in the Returned Soldiers' Club. It was finally decided to hold the meeting on the original date decided on, viz., April 17, and that the programme comprises three open events for prof essional riders. Reports from Palmerston North, Napier and Wellington gave promise of good nominations in these events. This fact alone should be a great draw, as these experienced riders at the recent carnival held in Christchurch established an Australasian record for 15 miles grass track. The course at Hawera is an ideal motor cycling course, and it is at present receiving special attention that should render it as good a3 the best courses in the South. The amateur events are also sure to fill well, and some very UReful and valuable trophies will be allotted to each event. This is the first event of its kind in Taranaki and given flno weather It should meet with great success. The carnivals recently held in Christchurch and Napier drew record crowds and the general opinion was that for exciting and thrilling events motor cycle racing was easy first. The whole of the proceeds are to be devoted to the Hawera Returned Soldiers' Big Push Fund and that body should benefit greatly thereby. A programme witli full particulars will be published in this paper to-mor-row and anyone wishing for further information is advised to communicate direct with Jhe secretary, Mr. V. '!. Stratton, box 51, Hawera.
