Mrs. Elizabeth Mouat Georgeson died in Wellington on Good Friday in her 9Gth year. , The death is recorded in the WaiBennett, of Wanganui, at the age of 35 years. Deceased was a well known stock buyer. The death is recorded in the- Wai rarapa papers of Mrs. Thomas Gardner, a resident of Masterton for oveilorty years, at the age of eighty-seven years. Mrs. Blanchard has received word that her son, Eric Blanchard, has been admitted to No. 5 Hospital, Rouen, suffering from a severe gunshot wound in the chest. . Mr, S. Pelhain, who for the past two years or more has been in Samoa serving with the New Zealand Forces there, has returned to New Plymouth and will spend a few days here before, possibly, joining the service again in some other sphere. Information has been received of the arrival of another New Zealand hospital ship at a port of call, all being well; also the arrival at a port of call of a steamer with a number of New Zealand aviation cadets on board—Press Association. Wednesday's hospital report included the following Taranaki nameß:—Severe cases: E. R. Coleman (New Plymouth), W. Harnell (tnglewood), G. IJ. Lash (Hawera), E. R. Wells (Manaja), R. D. Spence (Omata), R. Wright (New Plymouth).
At the Fitzroy Fire Brigade Station last night there was a large social gathering to farewell another member of the brigade, Private J. Johnson, a member of the 39th Reinforcements, who is now on final leave. Captain W. Griffiths presided, and, in Resenting Foreman Johnson with a wristlet watch, paid a tribute to the sterling loyalty of the younger members of the brigade in enlisting as soon as they came of age. There was an appropriate list of toasts that were duly honored. Contributors to the vocal portion of the social were: Messrs Len. Smith, Kay, Courtney, Goldsworthy, E. Johnson, G. Colson, E. Armitaga and Fireman Todd. A most enjoyable evening was spent and hearty good ivishes extended to the departing soldier for his safe return after doing his best for the Empire. Private Johnson is the ninth member of the brigade who has enlisted for service* At the Territorial camp at Wanganui on Sunday last a presentation was made to the Ven. Archdeacon Evans, chaplain to the Eleventh Regiment. LieutenantColonel Bellringer made the presentation, and in doing so said the officers and men wished to express their appreciation of Chaplain Evans' services amongst them. Tn replying Archdeacon j Evans referred to the very happy relations that had always existed between him and the officers and men of regiment, and said his years of aasocia. tion with them would always remain amongst his happiest memories. The gift was a handsome silver-mounted oak tray.
