The conference of the National Counc3» of Women elected the following President, Mrs. Shepherd .(ChristAflrchVtfl hon. sec., Miss Henderson; hon. Miss S. E. Jackson (Auckland). Four 1 ! vice presidents are to be elected by the' looal branches of Auckland, Wellington,! Dunedin, and Gisborne, The conference passed a resolution'thata the question of an amendment of the electoral law to enable women to bo e'ected to parliamest be made & prominent activity by all local branches. The next conference is to be held at Christ* church. ODDFELLOWS' CONFERENCE. '] Wellington, Last Night. At the Oddfellows' Coherence, a motion was discussed that members on ae« tive service shall not be entitled to side pay for the wounded" or for sickness in? eurred while on active ssrvice, such, members shall, however, be entitled to siqfc pay as from the date of their discharge, from the naval or military forces of the Empire, but after considerable-discussion it was lost by 18 votes to 16. Sick pay will, therefore, continue to-be paidl to soldiers overseas.
