BEEKEEPERS' ASSOCIATION.
- About 40 people attended the field day at Tainui Apiary on Good Friday after-' noon. The president (Dr. Blackley) welcomed the visitors and apologised for the absence of Mr. Jacobson, the ayiayy expert for the district. Mr. Henrick talked on honey, illustrating his points with a large number of samples, also demonstrating the use of the hydrometer in testing density.. The secretary demonstrated hives, frames, wiring, fixing foundation comb, use of superclearers, uniting hives, extracting, and the use of the waste in making mead, vinegar and wax.
At the close of the demonstrations several of the visitors questioned the speakers. Mr. E. Beale showeli a solar wax extractor, and explained its use. Among- those interested was a returned coldier, who came in from the Hawera district. It p his intention to keep bees on his holding, which he was fortunate enough to draw in a ballot. He very warmly thanked the president for the instruction given. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the Misses Young and Sandford.
