EASTER TOURXAMEXT. The Taranaki championship g-olf tournament, which opens to-day, although it has not drawn quite so many competitors as in previous years, will be contested by some of the finest talent that lias ever been on the Xew Plymouth links. Amongst the players, which include visitors from Wellington, Palmerstoa Xorth, Feiklinji, W'averley, I'atea, Hawera, and Eltham, there are four scratch men, and twenty-two with handicaps of 14 and under, so that the winner of the championship tills year is well concealed. The links arc in line playing order, and some very good scores .should he returned.
The tournament will open tvitli two qualifying rounds (if eighteen holes eaoli, the best sixteen grow score:; to qualify. Flav will commence at 9 a.m. sharp, and any player who is not on the ground when hi s name is culled will be placed ;it t(le end of the list. The following is tin' draw for to-day's play:—l!. L. I). The ladies will also bold ti bogey match to-day, commencing at II am. This match has drawn some sixteen competitors from all parts of the district ajd a very enjoyable game .should result. , .
