MUNITION FACTORY BLOWN UP. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE DONE. Received March 29, 11.25 a.m. Xew York, March 2S. A violent explosion occurred ift a munition factory in Jersey City, extensive damage being done. .Received March 2!), 5.3 p.m. Xew York, March 2S. It is beleved that explosion was the result of a bomb. It is reported that several have been killed. Many arrests :have been made. A block of buildings was devastated.
HELPING THE WAR. Washington, March 27. Senator How has introduced a resolution providing for the attitude and tone of newspapers over the war. General Hood, who has returned from France, giving evidence before the Senate Military Committee, said that he believed Sir Douglas Haig was retiring in accordance with pre-arranged plans. The British will deliver a smashing blow on the Germans from both sides. General Wood urges that America shall put five million men into training and send 21 million to the front without delay.
Sir Douglas Haig has cabled to President Wilson: We are determined to fight without counting the cost until the freedom of mankind is safe.
A LOAN TO DEFEAT THE KAISER. Washington. March 2J. It is announced that the next Liberty Loan will he for three billion dollars at 4J per cent. Mr. M'Adoo, in announcing the Liberty Loan, says that America will give her uttermost resources to bring to an end the execrable German militarism. Defeat now faces the ICaiser.
