The Auckland Racing Club's autumn meeting opens to-day, the chief events being the Easter Handicap, Great Northern Oaks, Champagne Stakes, and Brighton Hurdles- In the three firstnamod events solid favoritism may rest r.n Parisian Diamond, Impediment, and Finmark, but the 'hurdle event appears to be more open. Ditto is the most dis-. cussed candidate, but she may not see out a solidly run two miles, in which case Glu?tanus and Otter may show up. The minor events at the meeting may see Tressida, Paddington Green, Canzonet, and Hendra in good demand. Vhe gathering will be concluded on Monday, when Estland and Impediment will measure strides in the Great Norttiern St, Leger. Reports frdn Hawera state that a large number of visiting owners, horsemen, and light harness horses have arrived to take part in Monday's trots, and tile meeting should bo the best in the history of the Waimate Plains T.C. The course is in good order, and all arrangements are complete for patron's pleasurg: Gluetanus will be ridden by Stan. Reid to-day.

Taranaki horses engaged at the Avondale meeting 011 April 0 include Bisogae, Silver Link, Paddington Green, Glenroy, Madam Riatori, Speedwell Mae, Otter, and Styrax. The trio mentioned last are engaged in the Ohevalier Steeplechase. W. ("Skipper") Ryan has been discharged from camp, and will be riding at Ellerslie to-dav.
