Inspector Hendry, of Wanganui, is at present in North Taranaki, on a visit of v inspection to the police stations of the district. A Palmerston North press message states that Miss Lorna McHardy was married yesterday to Lieutenant Eichard Bale, of Trentham. Advice has been received that Flight. • Lieutenant Eliot King (youngest son of Mr. Newton King) who is attached to the Royal Naval Seaplane Depot at Port Said, lias been awarded the Croix de Guerre for work at the capture of Gaza. At yesterday's meeting of the Tara- f naki Education Board, appointments to school committees were confirmed as follows:—Lower Mangorei. Messrs J. Good- i rich and ,J. Lindsay, in place of Mes- ' dames Oldham and Norman, resigned, and Kohuratahi, Mr. B, Murine.
