The steamer Ftixton on a voyage from Havre to New Tort encountered a submarine oil' Portland. She saw a torpedo approaching when it broke the surface, became deflected from its course, made a complete turn like a boomerang, striking the submarine, which was preparing to fire a second torpedo. A terrific ex* plosion and upheaval foiled.
