MINISTER OF RAILWAYS.
VISIT TO NEW PLYMOUTH. In connection with the visit to New Plymouth this week of the Minister of Railways, Mr. 11. J. Okey, M.P., has received a communication from Mr. Herries stating that lie will arrive by tile mail train to-morrow night, stay in New Plymouth on Wednesday, and leave again by the mail train 011 Thursday morning. It has been arranged for Mr. Herries to meet a deputation from the Board of Governors of the New Plymouth High School on Tuesday evening at 0.30. On Wednesday morning the Minister will be shown the improvements on the .foreshore, and will meet a deputation from the Borough Council, which is seeking to have a piece of the railway reserve westward of Kawaroa Park vested in the borough. At Moturoa a deputation of natives will wait on the Minister to urge some matters relating to their burying ground there. At 11 o'clock, at the Soldiers' Club, ilr. Herries will receive representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and other institutions, who desire to bring some matters regarding railway management under the notice of the Minister. In the afternoon Mr. Herries is to visit the Smart Koad freezing works, and will meet the directors of the company there. 011 Thursday morning the Minister will leave by the mail train. He will break his journey at Stratford, to receive a deputation from the Borough Council, after which he proceeds to Auckland.
