IN THE AIR.
THE MANNHEIM RAID. ENORMOUS DAMAGE CAUSED. Paris, March 22. News from Basle as to Monday's Bri? tisli raid on' Mannheim shows that enormous damage was caused. Many houses in several parts of tho town were ignited, and three explosions at the powder factory and gasworks, large holes being torn in the principal streets, holding up the tramways. Firemen and soldiers were engaged for many hours in extinguishing tho fires. The population are in a state of panic and constant anviety as to further raids. Many people, especially women and children, tire leaving for Switzerland. South German newspapers continue thoir campaign against aerial reprisals, but Berlin, owing to its tamporary safety, refuses to negotiate with the Allies,
