A Wellington press message report the death, on March 10, from sickness, o«. Tangaere Hori (Mrs. Mei Ratapu, Hikiwai, Tokomaru Bay.) Colonel T. W. Porter, C.8.. is at present on a short visit to New Plymouth. Mrs. Roch, of Gill street, New Ply* mouth, received advice yesterday that her son, Private ('. W. Koch, had been admitted to hospital in France on Marc* 1, suffering with -severe cellulitis in th« right leg. Superintendent Woolley, who has been in charge of the Auckland Fire Brigade since the end of 1!>01, has resigned ow.iig to ill health. —Press Association. Private Vn.ugluui Kirkby returned to New Plymouth by Thursday night's mail train. Mrs. Kirkby has been advised that her eldest son, Lieut. Wynn Kirkby, of the Royal Naval Division, is in hospital in France suffering from severe gas poisoning. A Manaia boy, Private F. W. Bridge, writes Unit he was recently buried by a shell exploding near the place where he was standing and was taken to the hospital. Here he Wiis attended by Dr. Barron, late of Opunake. Corporal Thomas E. Rickford, of Hawcra, and dinner Alfred W. M'Leod, or Awatuna, have been awarded the Croix de Cuerre. ( Captain Colin Cilray, a .well-known 'Varsity and Oiago representative footballer,'has been awarded the Military Cross in recognition of services at the front as captain of one of the companies of the British Rifle Brigade. Captain Cilrny recently married in London a New Plymouth lady (Miss Blandish).
