BUTTER PRODUCTION.
IMPERIAL REQUIREMENTS EXCEEDED. The Wellington correspondent of the 'Hawera Star says that the Imperial authorities undertook to pui-cliai- 15,000 tons of New Zealand butter this p.cason, and this was expected to be about the quantity which could be spared, having legard to the Now Zealand consumption. The reason, however, has been particularly «ood, an,l the. amount required by the Imperial purchase branch lias already been exceeded- It is 'expected that Uritain will continue to take butter, though in c>.-tos of tho original contract quantity, but from the end of this mouth it will become necessary to make for local requirements during the wintor. The butter producers' committee will meet- the Prime Minister and the head of the Dairy Division in Wellington nexi week to discuss the terms of an arrangement which has to be entered into for the provision of New Zealand supplies.
