AN UNUSUAL CASE.

■MOTHER WANTS HER SON BACK.

( By Telegraph.—Press Association.' Taumarunui, March 10.

An unusual case was before the Appeal Board here. A woman appealed to have her son returned to New Zealand, as lie was now in a London hospital wounded and unfit for further service in the trenches. Applicant has several sons at the front, and the wounded one would be of better use at home than doing clerical work.

Captain Walker was in perfect sympathy, but said the board had no power to carry out the request. The only per-, son to do this was the officer commanding.

The chairman, in giving judgment, said a very important point was at issue. If a precedent were established there might be many applications. The facts of the present case would be submitted to the Defence authorities to deal with.
