WAR PENSIONS EXPENDITURE

EXTRA RATIONS FOR WORKERS. Received March 17, 5.5 p.m. London, March IG. The expenditure on war pensions {or 1917-18 total £23,000,000, covering G35,000 case 6. The expenditure for 1918-19 is estimated at 41,500,000.

It is estimated that 0,000,000 people are being supplied with extra rations, which consist of bacon, poultry and rabbits. These extra rations will not be granted to professional or Commercial men, shopkeepers, messengers, domestic servants or women doiug ordinary factory work, but will be granted to all men engaged in bodily labor, and women on the land.

The War Office,- requests the public not to send gifts of food to men at the front, whose ration is ample.
