The Waimato Jiorough councillors, considering Mayor Dash had slighted them by ignoring th.> council and calling a meeting of citizens to arrange a reception for the Minister for Education this week, this being the last straw of a auciwssion of grievances, the councillors to-night declined to transact any urgent business, and informed the Mayor that thev would resign in a body, as they couhl not work with liim. A deputation from 'the Racing Club askrd for a half-holiday on rn.ee day. Tho Mayor claimed it was his prerogative to grant or refuse it, and he would refuse. The councillors took, the matter jnut of his hands, and resolved and instructed the town clerk to advertise that the half-holiday was agreed to.
