CANTERBURY CROPS. Christchurch, March 12.

There been a steady sale for wheat, the better milling samples being in keen demand. Most of the badly discolored and sprouted wheat has been bought at the maximum price for fowl wheat of 5s 8d fob. Oat- are still scarce, as the wheat crop is being put through the mills first. There is keen inquiry at lfte rates. Oatsheaf chaff is a,lso in demand at £4 5s to £4 10s, at country stations for the better qualities. The potato crop right through to Otago and Southland appears to have been affected by the blight, but excepting in od'l instances the tops have not been blackened off and are still green. |t is the'efore expected that tubers will turn out fairly sound, but this cannot be ascertained for certain until the digging of the main crop is under way. Prices offered locally are £3 5s to £3 10s at country stations, with little business doing at present, though there is a demand for forward delivery.
