FINED FOR POSTING DANGEROUS PACKAGES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, March 13.

Sharland and Co., wholesale druggists, were to-day proceeded against, under section 83 of the Post and Telegraph Act. for having posted a dangerous packet containing 1 1 /, ounces of bromine. The packet was handed in at the To Aro post office on February 2, and shortly after it exploded, the fumes partially asphyxiating the postmaster and clerk and affecting others in the building. Mr. Biddell. S.M.. took into consideration that there had been no mishap during the thirty yearn of the business, and that wii»i the firm considered sufficient care had been exercised in the packing. He imposed a fine of 40s and costs.
