" _ monthly meeting of committee The monthly meeting of the FitzroY School Committee was Jield on Monday niglit. There were present: Messrs W. G. Eeiil (in the chair), 11. Grayling, I. Aroa, V. Ardern, P. Duckworth (secretary), and 0. Johnson (headmaster). The headmaster reported the number qn the roll was 212, and the average attendance for the past mouth had been lilS. During the mouth the school had been in. speeted by Mr. H. Dempsey. The headmaster drew attention to the need for something of a permanent nature being done regarding the erection of a tap in the boys' playground. He also stressed the need for a destructor, without which it was impossible to keep the playground tidy. He mentioned that with Mr. Grayling he had met the Board's overseer (Mr. Moore) and discussed the proposed alterations to the gymnasium. At the same time he had pointed out defects in the system in both the girls' and boys' offices. As a result, instruction had been given for installing a larger cistern, but nothing had yet been done. . The report of the inspector upon his .visit was received, and considered highly satisfactory, and a vote of congratulatjr.r, passed to the headmaster and stuff in connection therewith. Mr. Johnson suitably replied.
