SLIPE WOOL AND PELTS.
PROPOSALS SENT TO HIGH COMMISSIONER. By Telegraph,—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Prime Minister desires it should be made public that, as the outcome of the conference of representatives of the producers and freezing companies, meat, pelt and hide exporters, tanners,' fellmongers, woolbrokers and the Industrial Union, held at Wellington last week to consider important proposals affecting the interests- of those at that conference, he placed himself in communication, by telegraph, with the High Commissioner, and conveyed the sense of the resolutions passed. These are in the direction of providing that slipe wool be valued entirely in the Dominion; that the requisition of sheepskins, which it was desired in the first instance should be abandoned, should now be continued with some rilinor amendments; that the present hides requisition shall be continued operative to June 30 next, and, in so far as lamb pelts are concerned (which are only permitted to be shipped to the United Kingdom), the attention of the Home authorities be drawn to the fact that holders of same find themselves in an unfortunate position as the result of not being able to obtain shipping facilities to the United Kingdom, and, in consequence, are prevented from realising ou same.
