WHEAT AND OATS.
ESTIMATED YIELD FOR 1017-18. INCREASE OE 2,750,000 BUSHELS. The following estimated average yields p-r acre of wheat and oats for the season 1917-LS have been compilod from reports furnished by the fields inspectors of the Department of Agriculture throughout the Dominion, and are now published for general information in the official Monthly Abstract of Statistics:
Average (estimated) season 1917-18 for the Dominion 27.35 35.2G Average (actual) for the Doiiiinion, season 1910-17 23.19 30.2 C According to the above estimates, the total yield of wheat for the Dominion should be approximately 7,300000 bushels, as against an actual yield of 5 031 '-?7 bushels in 1917. The yield of oats' "is much harder to estimate as the proportions of the harvest respectively threshed and chaffed depend to a great'eitent on market conditions. In 1010-17 31.44 per cent, of the oat crop was threshed, and if the same percentage obtains this year the yield of grain should be approximately f) 303,000 bushels. The oats threshed last ..season yielded 5,371,430 bushels.
