THE STATE MINE.

PEEVISH DISPUTES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Greymouth, March 8. A meeting of the State Collieries Miners' Union last night decided to stop ' work until the men who refused to pay the 2i per cent, levy to assist the Australian victims, have decided to contribute. About 40 have refused to pay the levy. Both the Rewanui and Point Elizabeth mines are idle to-day. Another trouble at the State mines is over the position of the weighbridge at Rewanui since the big slip. The men [ claim that it should be placed at the mouth of the mine instead of some distance from it. The management declined to accede to this request. The weighbridge is placed in the middle, and the brake men claim that the trucks, by means of wastage, lose weight between the two places, they being paid tonnage rates.
