West front is still increasing. They : have now a majority of some sixteen divisions over the Allies, but that does not mean they are in superior strength, owing to ihe Allies divisions being larger. We have ako accumulated large supplies of grjns and ahvraft, our superiority in which is maintained, although it is steadily diminishing. The enemy's preparations are more or less complete. He can nttack as soon a< his local preparations are finished. H is more difficult to discover these local preparations than larger efforts, because camouflage has reached such a degree of skill that it is hard to learn what is going on. ON FRENCH FRONT. LIVELY ARTILLERYING. Received March 7. 8.30 p.m. London. March 0. A French communique stages: There lively artillery at La Poinpelle and the Vosges. ENEMY RAID STOPPED. AN INTERMITTENT BOMBARDMENT Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc, and Reuter. Received March 7, 11.43 p.m. London, March 7. A French communique- reports reciprocal artillerying in the region of Cornineny and Rheims. Yesterday evening enemy raids on our trenches in the sector Avocourt Wood io north-west of Hill :>-!4 were everywhere slopped by our fire. To day there has been an intermittent bombardment of:our linen in the region cf Avocourt, north of Douaumont.

Sir Douglas Hnig reports that enemy artillery has been more active at St. (dentin, Bois Orenier, Cambrai and Yprcs. We horn bed railway sidings north-east of Lille, and brought down three aeroplane:*. One -of ours i.i missing. Our night fliers bombed the Ingelmunter railway station and aerodrome; also St. Quentin. All returned. AMERICANS REPULSE RAIDERS. Received March 7, 11.15 p.m. London, -March American headquarters in France reports that American troops, occupying a new sector on the .Fi'cnch front in Lorraine, repulsed German raiders, inflicting severe losses. GERMAX ARTILLERY ACTIVE. London, March fl. A French communique reports a somewhat violent artillery duel on the right bank of the Mense, especially in the region of Fosses Wood and the Vcsges. There was also marked enemy artillery activity in the Voilu sector.
