LIFE-SAVING CLASSES.

SCHOOLS' COMPETITIONS. The finals of the schools' life-eaving competitions (senior and junior) will take place at the Municipal Baths tomorrow evening, commencing at 7 o'clock. The best of the juvenile swimmers in Taranaki will he taking part. In addition to the life-saving events there will he exhibitions of high diving by some of the school boys, and there will also be fancy swimming and diving. At 8.45 a display of whut is known as the fire dive will be given. Admission to the baths will be: Adults' 0, children 3. The preliminary trials in connection with the competition were completed at the baths yesterday morning. The Chetwode girls' team, who did their work in excellent style have "secured the highest points so far, being a.vardod 222 points. Other teams come in order as follows: New Plymouth Boys' High School No. 2, 218J; New Plymouth B.fLS. No. 1, 2101; Eltham District High School No. 1 team (girls) secured 212 A points. The Chetwode" girls and the Boys' High School (two) teams will contest the final for the school senior championship ''Up. The primary schools preliminary tests for the Hughes cup have resulted as follows:—West End No. 2, 185 points; Central No. 4, 1804; Kltlmm R.H.S. No. 2 171; West End No. 1, 100; Eltham No. 3, 100%; Kltham No. 4, 1041; Eltham No. I, 102; Central No. 1, 100; Central No. 2, 155.1; Central No. 3, 151; Hawera M.S. No. 1, 130; Hawera No. 0, 138: Hawera No. 5, 13GJ; Hawera No. 2, 131!; Warea, 1301; Hawera No. 3, 1201; Hawera No. 4, llS.v; Hawera No. 7, lIS. West End No. 2, Central No. 4, and Eltham No. 2 will be the competitors in the final.
