YESTERDAY'S PROCEEDINGS. lly Telegraph—Press Association. Dunodin, March (I. At the Methodist conference there wan presented a report by the Wellington Methodist Education Trust. The value of the trust is £13,540. The trustees reported having bought land at Masterton at £1721, for an orphanage. The conference recommends that pending building operations on the new site, the trust be advised to secure a temporary building in or about Masterton to start the orphanage. Of the £15,000 to bo raised .for foreign missions, £OO was allocated to the general fund, £3OOO to the Now Zealand working capital fund, and the balance to the suspense account, to be used by the Australian board after approval by the New Zealand Foreign Mission. The executive reported that a valuable property in Auckland had been donated for the benefit of the mission, and at present 'was let for £3 per week. The donor also gave £2OO to cover the transfer. ft was resolved that a great effort to raise money for foreign missions be inaugurated by special meetings for prayer in all circuits and home mission stations. A committee was set up to consider a method whereby more work ami responsibility could be given to district synods, thus lessening the work of, the conference. The conference .decided that ministerial probationers on active service who served four or more years' probation be eligible for reception into full connection and ordination, subject to satisfactory reports by chaplains regarding their character and conduct, and subject to any necessary conditions pertaining to postordination examinations. It was decided in the case of any unmarried minister desiring to enlist that no objection be offered by the president, except in such urgent cases ns may bo decided by him, and the committee advise. It was reported tliat Chaplain Luxford strongly urged the appointment of a chaplain for Egypt. The matter will go before th'- comr*'*'-
