DOMINION'S PART.
CONSCRIPTION OF BRITISH SUBJECTS. STATEMENT BY MINISTER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Minister of Internal Affairs, referring to the question of the conscription of British subjects residing in certain Allied countries, said advice had be'en receiyed that agreements had been entered into on the subject between the United Kingdom, France Italy and Russia, and that recent press cablegrams indicated an agreement had been made witti the United States. So far, however, official advice had not been received respecting this agreement. Provision was made in each agreement that if persons liable for service refused, after due notice, to return to their own country, they would be compelled to undertake military service in the country of their residence, \mless they can furnish documents, delivered by their diplomatic or consular authorities, certifying their exemption from military service. It is suggested that those interested shouid, if in doubt as to their legal responsibilities, communicate with the British Ambassador resident in the country in which they are residing at present.
