YESTERDAY'S PROCEEDINGS, \ (Before 'Mr. A. Crooke. S.M.). At tli© Magistrate's tourt yesterday, before Mr. A. Crooke, S.M., tile following business was transacted: — JUDGMENT BY DEFAULT. Judgment 'by default was given for plaintiffs in the following undefended cases: J. S. Lister (Mr. A- H. Johnstone) v. 6. A. Adams, £8 13s 5d (costs £1 4j 6d); same v. W. Drink water, 19s 3d (costs ss). MAORI CATTLE CLAIM. The hearing of the claim of Atiria Te Kahakohu (Mrs Te Whiti) v. Ngatai Perereka, was continued. Mr. P. B. Fitzherbert represented plaintiff, and Mr. A. H. Johnstone appeared for defendant. The claim was in respect to the loss of 17 head of cattle which had disappeared from defendant's place while being grazed there for plaintiff. Evidence was given by. Messrs H. Collins, Caslin Gill, E. Vincent, and F. Old. Counsel addressed the bench. Decision was reserved.
