CROQUET.

An enjoyable afternoon was spent on 'the New Plymouth Croquet Club's lawns on Saturday when a Red Cross match was played, «rolf croquet being played instead of the usual progressive tournament. Jtfght pairs competed, and the best scores were made by Mrs. J. Clarke (7, 7, fl—23), Mrs. Simpson, Mrs. Curtis and Miss Rennell 22, Miss M. Norman and Mrs. Howling 21. Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Morton 2(1 Mrs. Johns and Mrs. Courtenay 1!>, Mrs. Hastier and Ajrs.'Oibson 18, Airs, firnnt 17. and Mrs. Morrison 13. Mrs. Foukcs and Miss Rawson were unable to finish. As a result of the four tournaments played the sum of £4 4b has been handed to the Red Cross Society.
