METHODIST CONFERENCE.

GENERAL BUSINESS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, March 2. At the Methodist Conference the Revs. Foster and Warburton, probationers for the fourth year, were received into full connexion, the ordination being fixed for to-morrow. Rev. Warren has been in eamp as a private, and will return immediately after ordination. Rev. Ra\ kena Piripi, who has travelled for four 1 years, was received into full connexion and will be ordained to-morrow as a Native minister. Rev. Sullivan, a chaplain in England, passed in his year of probation. His health has broken down, and he will soon be released from the forces. Revs. Minifie nnd Slade, who have travelled two years, passed in the third year of probation- , Probationers who travelled two years and now passed in, their year were: Oswald Burnett, Robert Fordyee, William Hocking, Ernest Sage, and Charles Kendon (the last-named being now in camp). Those who hav/i travelled one year and were passed were: John Dennis, Frederick Parker, William Dent, John Nelson, Alfred Costain,(lastnamed now in eamp). It was reported that five students— S. Mogridge, E. Olds, W. Smith, W. Blight,' and E. Chambers are with the forces. The conference decided that the names of these students be kept on the president's list of reserves. The conference decided to call on the Government to submit the question of prohibition to tho vote of the people without further dela>. The Rev. Boyes -moved: That in view of the report as to the treatment of conscientious objectors, the conference requests the Minister of Defence- to set up a commission of inquiry. It was.stated' that the department denied the allegations of ill-treatment of the men. After further discussion it was. decided to proceed to the next business. FIRST READING OFSTATIONS.
