VETERANS' PRESENTATION.

TO RETURNED SOLDIERS' ASSOCIATION. A pleasant function took place at the Soldiers' Club on Saturday afternoon, when the members of the local branch of the Veterans' Association assembled to make a presentation to the members of the Returned Soldiers' Association. The occasion was the sequel to an entertainment given in December last, by the veterans, in honor of three of their oldest members, namely, Lieut. C. M. Ki>i°(lon, N.Ji.K, aged !)7, Mr. H. futt, X.Z f! aged <J2, and Lieut. \V. H. 'Free, 88th Regiment (fought, in llekc's war'in 1815), aged 93. On that o'ecasio,, a photograph was taken of the three veterans, and on Saturday a framed copy of the photograph was presented tu the New Plymouth Returned Soldiers Association. Mr. G- R Robinson made the presentation, and asked Archdeacon Evans, as president of the Association, to accept . it as a memento of the* old men who fought in the wars of 18(i0 to IS7O. Archdeacon Evans expressed the pleasure of the "young veterans" at bavin" such a memento of the men of the past to hang upon the walls of the Club room. He emphasised the vrv stron" bond existing between the old "veterans and the young men who were lighting the Empire's battles to-dav.
