MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the Land Board was held at New Plymouth on February 27. Present: Mr. (i. If. Builard (Commissioner) in the chair, Messrs Ryan, Heslop, Cleland and Martin. APPLICATIONS FOR LAND The following applications were dealt with: Sections 23, 27 and 28, town of Whangaiuomona, 3 roods, miscellaneous lease, Mrs. T. Klee Resolved to offer the unsold lots at auction al prices to be fixed by the Commissioner. Sections 27 and 28, town of Whangamomona, 2 roods, miscellaneous lease, T. McKenna.—To be offered at auction. Block XIV., Opaku, 94 acres 2 roods 0.R.P., F. W. Newton.—Recommended for approval. Under Section 3 The Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act, 1015. Section 3, Mock IV, Pouatu iS.D.., 1052 acres, R.L., F. J. Fougere.—Approved. Part section IG, block I-, Rangi, 2 acres (approximately), miscellaneous iease, Percy Nook.—Approved at £1 per annum. DEFAULTERS. Section 7, block VI., Tangitu, default for residence. —Six months' extension granted. Section 0, block X, Aria, default for residence and improvements. Six months' extension granted. Section 10, block VII, Mapara, nonresidence. —Adjourned. Sub-section B, Kakaramea, town belt, failure to-clear noxious weeds—Adjourned. Section 16, block IX., Totoro, Roland Kidd to Peter Hegglin. CORRESPONDENCE AND 'MISCELLANEOUS. The proposal to cancel the temporary lease granted to A. Coxhead of road reserve fronting section 22, block XIIL, Pouatu, wrs approved. M. C. Andrew, holding a five years' miscellaneous lease of 13 acres fronting section 14, block VII., Waro S,D, asked to be released from paying rent in* consideration of amount expended iii improving the section.—Refused, lessee to be allowed to surrender his least) and re-apply for the land. Mokoia Town Belt, (»i) acres 1 rood 13 perches.—Resolved to offer the area in two subdivisions under the Education Reserves Act, and section 5 (g) of the Public Bodies Leases Act, 1008. Section 10, block XIV., Town of Putea, 1 rood; subsections 34, 35 and 30 of section 42, Patca suburbs, 2 roods 24 perches.—Resolved to offer lot 10 for leasing by imetion under the Education Reserves Act and section 5 (g) of the Public Bodies Leases Act, 1908, and to offer Mrs. Hansen a lease of two years under section 8 (7) of the Public Bodies Leases Act, 1908. Section 3, block XIV., town, of Patea, 30 perches—Resolved to grant present lessee (Geo. Carman) a new lease under section 5 (g) Public Bodies Leases Act, 1908, in terms of section 2 (5) uf the Education Reserves Amendment Act, 1910. Section 2116, town of New Plymouth, 1 rood.—'Resolved to offer at auction. Sections 2128, 2129, 2130, 2142, 2143, 2144, part 2145, town of New Plymouth, area 1 acre 2 roods 38 perches.—Resolved to offer in two areas by auction. The Crown Lands Ranger's statutory reports on the rural holdings were received. It was resolved to hold a special meeting of the Board (for the transaction of ordinary business) on Wednesday, March 20, in lieu of the ordinary meeting on March 27, which will accordingly lapse. Hugh MeCann, lessee of lot A, sub. 5, block VIL, Opunake, Ngatimarongo Block (West Coast settlement reserve) applies for a renewed lease under the provisions of the West Coast Settlement Reserves Act, 1892.—The Board approved the appointment of Mr. H. F. Russell as its arbitrator. Similar action was taken in regard to lot B, part sub. 5, block VIL, OpunakeThe Commissioner of Crown Lands submitted a report of the inspection made on 26th inst.. of Mr. T. H. Trask's holding, section 2S. Tututava settlement, under the Discharged Soldiers' Settl&ncnt Act, in connection with his application for reduction in capital value.—Resolved to refuse Mr. Trask's application, lessee to be informed that the Board is prepared to consider an application for a rental postponement for a period as a means of relief, Consent was given to the transfer by Mary O'Rorko to John Cnllaghan o*Rorke of an undivided half interest in sec. 0, block VI, Opunake S.D., held under the West Coast Settlement Reserves Act, 1592. It was moved by Mr. Heslop, seconded by Mr. Ryan and carried tliat in the opinion of the Board, it would be advisable in the case of improved lands acquired for returned soldiers for the Department to erect legal standard sheep proof boundary fences and add the cost thereof to the price of the land for the following reasons:—(l) That the incoming tenant v>'ould ibe able to put stock on the section immediately after t'lie ballot; (2) that it would save disputes ' between neighboring tenants; (3) that in tlie event of the sections not going oft.
