The cyclist was stunned. MOTOR CAR OVERTURNED. Wellington, Last Night. After a month's holiday motor tour through Ihe heart of the North Island, Messrs Pudsey (Petone) and Crawford (Lower Hutt), with their respective wives and three children, met with n serious accident on the Rimutaka yesterday afternoon. Near the top of the Rimiitaka Crawford, who was driving, essayed to pass a big motor lorry which had drawn up at the hillside. Unfortunately, the space left was not sufficient for the passenoer car and it went over the hill which at that point, is very steep. Mr. Pudsey was the only absentee, ho having left the car a few'moments previously to get a drink of water. As tho ear went over one of the girls jumped out and escaped unhurt. Mr. Crawford also jninned out and was comparatively uninjured, but the other four (Mrs. .Pudsey and Mrs. Crawford and two children} went with the car. which, after a fall of about thirty-five yards, struck a log and turned completely over, being smashed to pieces. Mrs. Crn- ' -d and the children were thrown ou< iff the car's herdlong fight. Subscnuimtlv was found she had sustained serious injuries to one of her shoulders, besides minor bruises and shock. Ono of the girls had received serious injuries to a leg, there being a gaping wound from the knee to the ankle. Mrs. Craw. ford sustained a broken wrist, bosidei minor injuries, and the bov was badlv bruised about the head and other parts of the body. The sufferers were broueht to the top of the hill by rescue parties and taken to the Oreytown Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
