■»' , THE ACCIDENT BEAXCH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Tauranga, Feb. 2(;. The United Fire Brigades' Accident Association held its twenty-eighth annual meeting last night, the president. Superintendent Grubb, of Stratford, presiding. The annual report showed a decrease during the year in the amount paid for Accident claims by six brigades out-of a membership of seventy affiliated. During:the year three brigades withdrew from Membership, and at the close of (he year there were 102 brigades with 1521 members. The contributions amounted to £IBO 19s- lid. and payments per accident 1 claims £97 15s, a decrease of £142 on the amount, paid last year. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. ' A motion by the executive was carried that during the war and as long after as the executive thinks fit, in districts with a limited supply of doctors, medical certificates signed by matrons of hospitals be accepted by the brigade concerned to satisfy the exeutive that no doctor was available at the time. A motion by the executive was rejectee that, in view of the number of accidents since the system of motor reels came into force, and in view of protecting members of the society from unnecessary risks, the Government be asked to set a speed limit on all fire motors, Mich speed to be agreed on between the Government, the fire inspectors and a representative of the Society. The secretary explained that the object of the executive had been achieved in bringing under the notice of the delegates the danger the men on motor reels were running.

Levin, Invercargill and Lytteltun, and the selection will be made by the Brigades. The election of ollicers resulted: President, Deputy Superintendent Couper (Oaiiianii; Viee-1 residents, Superintend'enl Keith (Hastings I, and .Superintendent Goodwill (Akaroa); treasurer, C. A Osboni (Unehuuga); secretary, Captain Watts (Newmarket). A resolution was passed urging the Covernnient not to agree to hand back the Islands in the l'aciiic to Germany and that aliens in the Dominion be employed on .useful work. The retiring president, Mr. K. P. Hean (Addington Workshops) was elected a life honorary member. The delegates are to be taken several outings to-morrow and will be entertained at a banquet in the evening. Most of the delegates will leave on Thursday. ~
