AGAINST JOHN BULL'S REGISTER. DAMAGES ONE FARTHING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Cliristcliurcli, Last Night. In the Supreme Court, before Mr. Justice Chapman and a Common-Jury of twelve. Bcath and Co., Ltd.. drapers of Christchuvcli claimed £IOOO damages for allied libel from Maurice Goldshorough, journalist, Wellington, Frederick James Dawson, publisher, Wellington and the John Bull Newspaper Proprietary Co., Wellington, for publishing an article in John Bull's Register of July NS last, which it was claimed falsely' and maliciously misrepresented facts as to the origin of the plaintiff company's capital, #i«l tlio nationality of its shareholders. After an hour's retirement, the jury returned with a verdict for one farthing Damages. The question of costs was reserved.
