I Tlie result of the appeal made in New Plymouth on Saturday on behalf of the Scottish Women's Hospital was exceedingly gratifying, tlie sum of £3lO 5s od having been raised by means of donalions and from sales at tlie stalls. The women's committc which undertook the management of tlu appeal, set about the work of organisation wifl) enthusiasm, and secured the assistance of town and country workers, as well as the 'Scottish ladies of the district. The latter had complete charge ot the Mart, while the street stalls were under the control of the Women's Patriotic Committee. The street stalls included frutv and vegetables, sweets, fancy work, flowers, and a jumble stall. Ttiere were also o.i sale small tartan silk buttons, .and sprigs of heather were everywhere in evidence. .Business was brisW throughout the day, ! and as stocks were cleared they were replaced with other articles from the general supply, until at the close of the day almost a complete clearance had been made, the last remaining supplies "being disposed of under the hammer, Mr. , [,. I Permission has been granted by the officials of the 'inranaki Agricultural i Society to the ladies to lake up a collection at the show grounds on People's !
