ALLEGED MANSLAUGHTER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Core, Fob. 22. Yesterday afternoon Percy George Shave, clerk, of Gore, aged 17, was arrested on a charge of manslaughter for having caused the death of Robert Tinnis Coomer on December 22. Coomer, who was aged 73, was a well known retired district farmer and dredge-owner, who was knocked down by a ear driven by Shave, death subsequently ensuing. Accused was brought before Mr. Young S.M., and remanded. Pail was allowed in £IOO and one surety of £IOO. DEFENCE EXPENDITURE COMMISSION. Palmerston N-, Feb. 22. THE FLOATING WRECKAGE. Gisborne, Feb. 22. A question has arisen as to whether the wreckage drifting ashore -,n the Wainui beach is connected with that recently found near Tiaroa. It appears to be the keel portion of a vessel having a length 1 of from 20 to 30 feet, with barnacles on. It is impossible to make a comparison until the low tide.
