ALLEGED MANSLAUGHTER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Core, Fob. 22. Yesterday afternoon Percy George Shave, clerk, of Gore, aged 17, was arrested on a charge of manslaughter for having caused the death of Robert Tinnis Coomer on December 22. Coomer, who was aged 73, was a well known retired district farmer and dredge-owner, who was knocked down by a ear driven by Shave, death subsequently ensuing. Accused was brought before Mr. Young S.M., and remanded. Pail was allowed in £IOO and one surety of £IOO. DEFENCE EXPENDITURE COMMISSION. Palmerston N-, Feb. 22. At to-day's sitting of the Defence Expenditure Commission evidence was given by Captain Trusk (paymaster], ScrgtJnstructor W. Minnell, Sergt.-lnstructor 11. 11. It appears to be the keel portion of a vessel having a length 1 of from 20 to 30 feet, with barnacles on. It is impossible to make a comparison until the low tide.
